Something in the air.
January 14th, 2008
As usual there is a tremendous amount of speculation surrounding the Macworld keynote. Since the release of the iPhone last year Mr. Jobs has to be feeling an incredible amount of pressure for this years outing if he feels pressure at all, I’m not sure if it’s possible at this point in his life.
I am not usually caught up in the mix of Macworld and being over 3,000 mile away I am not likely to be much more involved than trying to watch the keynote on a highly taxed feed from the Moscone Center, except for this post. After reading many articles on the blogs regarding which products may or may not exist or may or may not be announced tomorrow and what this phrase, “There’s something in the air” might allude to on the banners at the event. I had this thought – with the advent of the iPhone and it’s integration with iTunes and with the addition of movie rentals into iTunes and just with the growth of iTunes into this connection hub for every external product that Apple creates I am going on record with Air not being that sub notebook Macbook, though I believe that is coming, I think that Air is an evolution of iTunes.
I think that the “i” everything is starting to get old and the Tunes part of the product is becoming less and less applicable with everything that is being offered, movies, music, and certainly in the future applications for the iPhone and the possibility of Apple TV becoming a viable home entertainment solution, it’s just no longer just about the tunes.
So there it is, my first foray into Mac speculation, now I’m going to fall back into my comfort zone of just sitting back and watching the magic unfold and giggle at how far off I was.
Update
Ok so I was wrong – it was a laptop – no one should come out of the gate against so much speculation and expect to be right, I didn’t, I swear, *sniff*.
