Twitter Headaches

July 17th, 2008

As I mentioned before, with this refresh I moved my twitter feed to a more prominent position on the page because I don’t write on my blog nearly enough. Not that I tweet much more but with the new iPhone OS and Twitterific I believed it would offer a greater opportunity for the site to see some updates on a more regular basis. Then today I hopped up on the site only to see the great big blank spot that you see there now.

After I did some digging I discovered that there is a limit on the number of times requests can go to the API in an hour, currently it appears to be set at 100, given Twitter’s track history with up time I suppose I can certainly understand the need for the limits. The thing is it’s been down for more than an hour and as much as I would like to think that I have such a large impact on the world wide web I know I am not seeing the kind of draw to break that number every hour.

I really wish that it would at least feed up some error text so it didn’t look like I am hocking a busted site.

Nice.
